How, 2025, film, 8’47 (HR) :
Through the opening between reality and subtle poetic forms, surreal scenes and thrilling paradoxes reveal endless loops of existence.
« Je m’efforce de capturer la beauté schizophrénique de l’existence humaine, dont la réalité est faite de paradoxes, tandis que la rationalité n’est qu’une anomalie subjective à la limite de la conscience. La beauté de la connaissance dans l’ignorance et de l’impuissance ultime, qui convergent en un seul moment éternel.
Base du film, il n’y a qu’une seule question : comment ? Captivé par la mécanique pure des principes cycliques dont nous sommes faits, sans avoir besoin de chercher des réponses personnelles, Howne s’intéresse pas au Qui ou au Pourquoi. Il s’interroge simplement, inspiré par la question elle-même. La pensée rationnelle qui est à la base de notre civilisation est l’histoire de l’acier et de la guerre, reconstituée à partir de nos victoires et des défaites d’autrui, jouée sans cesse dans des milliers de variantes qui se présentent comme de nouveaux conflits. Apparemment contradictoires, la poésie et l’art offrent la seule bouée de sauvetage à l’esprit humain.
La technique du dessin sur papier, en effaçant et en retirant la poudre de pastel du papier. Ouvrir le processus créatif au hasard, m’empêchant d’atteindre un contrôle total, impacté par les « erreurs » nées des matériaux naturels. Dans mon travail, j’évite de donner des conclusions claires. »
Artistic intent:
« In this film I strive to capture the schizophrenic beauty of human existence, whose reality is made up of paradoxes, while rationality is merely a subjective anomaly at the edge of consciousness. The beauty of knowledge in ignorance and of ultimate helplessness, as they converge in a single eternal moment. At the basis of the film is only one question – How? Captivated by the pure mechanics of the cyclical principles from which we are made, without the need to seek personal answers, How is not interested in Who or Why. It simply wonders, inspired by the question itself. Rational thought that is the basis of our civilization is the history of steel and war, patched together from our victories and other people’s defeats, repeatedly played out in thousands of variants that are presented as new conflicts. Seemingly contradictory, poetry and art offer the only lifeline to the human mind. The film was made using the technique of drawing on paper, by erasing and removing pastel powder from the paper. This approach allowed me to open the creative process to chance, preventing me from achieving complete control, impacted by the « errors“ born from natural materials. In my work, I avoid providing clear conclusions. I want to place the viewer in the role of the one who wonders, inquires and who opens themselves to an answer – which the film never offers, but the viewer may arrive at for themselves. »
