Lap Dogs/Les Petits Chiens revient à la vision nihiliste de Fyodor Dostoïevski en s’inspirant de fragments de son roman Démons montés en écho avec des scènes du cinéma de la Perestroïka connotant l’apathie tant physique que politique de la population dans ses préoccupations domestiques. Et l’on se souvient que « petits chiens » accusent ceux ainsi surnommés de suivre aveuglément, sans réflexion, les décisions d’un chef.
La Perestroïka, littéralement « la reconstruction », est le nom donné aux réformes économiques et sociales menées par Mikhaïl Gorbatchev, président de l’URSS, d’avril 1985 à décembre 1991, selon trois axes prioritaires: économique, social et éthique : l’accélération, la démocratisation et la transparence.

Lap Dogs is a reimagining of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s vision of Russian nihilism through fragments from his novel Demons and scenes from Perestroika cinema, which are echoed in scenes from Perestroika cinema that connote both the physical and political apathy of the population in its domestic concerns. And we remember that « little dogs » accuse those so called of blindly following, without reflection, the decisions of a leader.
Perestroika, literally « reconstruction », is the name given to the economic and social reforms carried out by USSR President Mikhail Gorbachev in the Soviet Union from April 1985 to December 1991, according to three priorities: economic, social and ethical : acceleration, democratization and transparency.
