Filip Markovinovic – Prolaz/Passages, 2023, film, 1′ (SR)
Passage, film footage s’écrit par collage de diverses séquences pellicule 8 mm, de qualité et de degré de dégradation variables. S’y distingue des plans d’un auteur inconnu tout autant que son titre mais que nous avons désigné comme Na pruzi / Sur la voie ferrée. Le matériau lui-même, retenu parce que très porteur visuellement, quant à l’explicit, il est réalisé image par image, avec quelques astuces techniques. Ce matériau m’a inspiré pour exprimer la transition d’une réalité à une autre, avec le motif du chemin de fer et du carrefour. Je n’insiste pas sur une interprétation unique et sans équivoque ; le film n’a même pas été réalisé sur la base d’un récit clair, mais plutôt par l’enchaînement associatif de plans.
Passage is an experimental collage-type film, created using various found footage film material shot on 8mm film stock. The material is of different quality and degree of degradation. The core motif was provided by shots from a film by an unknown author whose title we do not know, but we internally call it Na pruzi (On the Railroad). The material itself is visually very striking, and the final shots of the film in which a man duplicates himself were actually created by shooting frame-by-frame, using in-camera tricks. The material inspired me to make a short film about the transition from one reality to another, utilizing the well-known symbols of the railroad and the crossroads. I do not insist on a single, unequivocal interpretation; the film was not even made with a clear narrative basis, but rather by the associative linking of shots.
